    Hands-On Labs

    All labs are a complimentary addition to your registration.

    All labs are held at the Convention Center.

    All labs have limited availability and pre-registration is required. 


    How to add a lab to your existing registration:

    To add a lab to your existing registration, open your confirmation email and click the link "Manage Registration Details" and then select “Edit Registration". When the pop-up window appears, click “Save” to proceed to the optional sessions page. From there, choose the labs you’d like to attend. Once you’re done, click “Done,” and your lab selections will be saved to your reservation. For more help please email events@dvm360.com.

    Bandaging Lab: Modified Robert Jones and the Art of the Tie-Over

    Friday, May 30, 1:15 - 3:30 PM - FULL

    Elevate your bandaging skills to the next level! This interactive 2 hour hands-on lab is designed for veterinary professionals of all experience levels. Part one will help you gain confidence in creating effective, functional modified Robert-Jones bandages. Part two we will dive into the art of tie-over bandages designed to expand your wound management expertise. This lab will equip you with the skills and confidence to handle even the trickiest wounds.

    Registration Information:

    • Seating is limited to 40 participants.
    • Note: It is highly recommended to attend the Bandaging 101 lecture before the lab on Friday, May 30, from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM CDT.

    Cytology Wet Lab

    In this 90-minute, hands-on lab, veterinarians and technicians (in separate sessions) will rotate through self-guided stations focused on clinical dermatology and cytology. Participants will review cases, assess cytology under a microscope, determine next diagnostic steps, and explore digital cytology, microscope care, and dermatology diagnostic kits.


    Learning Objectives:

    • Utilize cytology as a core diagnostic tool for itchy canine patients
    • Analyze clinical cases and determine next steps
    • Identify common skin and ear pathogens via cytology
    • Properly care for microscopes and assemble dermatologic diagnostic kits
    • Understand digital cytology for dermatologic cases


    Registration information:

    • Open to: Veterinarians and technicians (in separate sessions)
    • Capacity: Limited to 50 participants; preregistration is required
    • Price: No additional fee
    • Prerequisites: 1 hour of prerequisite online course work (6 modules, 10 minutes each); this is included in the fee. Registrants will be emailed access to the online course.


    The online pre-work is RACE-approved exclusively for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs).  While it is not a requirement for veterinarians, the lab faculty strongly recommend completing the pre-work. It contains valuable content that will enhance your understanding and better prepare you for the onsite lab experience.

    Patella Luxation: Introducing RidgeStop™

    Saturday May 31, 1:15 - 4:15 PM

    This three-hour Hands-on Lab includes a one-hour lecture followed by two hours of practical lab work. Participants will deepen their understanding of patellar luxation through comprehensive coverage of diagnostic techniques and treatment selection. The session places a strong emphasis on RidgeStop™, a novel, minimally invasive alternative to traditional sulcoplasty. Designed to reduce joint trauma and eliminate the need for aggressive sulcus modification, RidgeStop™ utilizes a medical-grade UHMW polyethylene implant to provide stability with minimal joint interference. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the RidgeStop™ concept and the confidence to incorporate this innovative procedure into their surgical toolkit.

    Tibial Tuberosity Advancement Lab: Introducing MMP

    This 2-hour Hands-on Lab offers a practical introduction to the Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP), a progressive Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) technique for treating canine cruciate ligament disease. Designed for both first-opinion and referral veterinary surgeons, this sawbone-based workshop equips participants with the core skills to confidently perform MMP in their own practices. With clinical outcomes comparable to TPLO, a simplified surgical approach, and suitability for a wide range of dog breeds, MMP presents a cost-effective alternative with a shorter convalescence period and low complication rates. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of cruciate disease diagnosis and leave with the confidence to implement a repeatable, successful surgical technique.

    Suture Techniques

    This 2-hour interactive, personalized workshop is for veterinarians and technicians looking to expand and enhance their suturing skills. (time block includes networking break in exhibit hall) Using models, you will practice various suture patterns, useful knots (hand ties, friction knots, Aberdeen, et al.), tacking and walking sutures, and gaining an understanding of knot security, tensile strength, and available suture for various cases. This affordable two-hour lab will provide you with the skillset and knowledge to close and secure anything!
